Member Sanding Day – The Greens Committee is currently organizing another sanding day and asking all WSGC member to consider coming out and volunteering a few hours to help take care of the course that takes care of us. A sanding day generally consists of an early morning with a cart, a bucket of sand and a trowel, filling fairway and tee box divots with seeded sand. 5-hours of sanding is good for a free round at West Seattle courtesy of Colin Gants, or you can donate the round to a local junior program. It’s a great way to give something back and get more involved with the conditions of your course. Scheduling depends on the weather (we usually like to see warm weather coming so the seeds will sprout quickly) so we usually have about 4-5 days notice. Please contact Greens Committee Chair, Mike Prittie at vicepresident@westseattlegolfclub.org to get more details and express your desire to help out.
Washington Golf Alliance – Economic Impact Study – The Washington Golf Alliance, headed by the WSGA, recently commissioned an Economic Impact Study detailing the impact of golf revenue in the State of Washington. The study shows that golf contributes over $1.2 billion in revenue in the, more than the Seahawks, Mariners and former Sonics combined.
